Hostouň lies west of central Prague. The first written mention of the village dates to 1294.

The Church of St Bartholomew was originally Gothic and dates from the 14th century; it took on its Baroque form in the early 18th century. The municipal office is on Kladenská Street, and the village also has a primary school for the first stage of basic education.
