Statenice lies in the valley of the Únětický potok, about 11 km north-west of central Prague. In 2025, it had just under 1,600 residents.

Statenice is first mentioned in writing in 1227, in a charter confirming the property of the Monastery of St George at Prague Castle. The Baroque château is a single-storey, four-wing building around a rectangular courtyard; it was created by rebuilding a fortified manor mentioned in 1466. The First World War memorial was unveiled on 28 October 1919 on the site of an iron cross. The community library received the 2021 Library of the Year title.
