According to the municipality, the first written record of Tuchoměřice and Kněžívka dates from 1273. G. D. Orsi designed the early Baroque St Vitus Church, built in 1667–1669, whose façade is adorned with sculptures from M. B. Braun's workshop. St Vitus Castle above Tuchoměřice, a former Jesuit residence, has been used by the Christian community Chemin Neuf since 1998. On the southern edge lies the Kněživka natural monument, an abandoned quarry with fossils from the Cretaceous Sea, protected since 1978.
